Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Having saved the galaxy and now working as mercenaries for hire the guardians find themselves in a sticky predicament, with a bounty on their own lives. Meanwhile, Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) father, Ego (Kurt Russell), has finally managed to catch up with the gang, but has intentions of his own. Caught between family reunion and a sea of bounty hunters, Drax, Rocket, Gamora and Groot (Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, and Vin Diesel) will have to swing into action and save the galaxy all over again. And, might there be more to heavy weight bad guy Yondu (Michael Rooker)? Directed and partially written by James Gunn this two hour and sixteen minute stomp through space featuring a scattered blast of 70’s and early 80’s solid gold hits accompanied by well thought out comedic dialogue keeps the pace bouncing right along. Sure there are some narrative points a little under-cooked in the whole mix, but the irreverent and breezy setup coupled with a strong cast and many deserving cameo appearances and you’ve got the summer’s first big hit on your hands. Worthy of being seen on the big screen, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is rated PG-13.
