Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Settling in to living in modern times, Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) is rattled into action as several heads of Hydra, the evil mastermind organization with plans to take over the world, stabs home to the freedom and justice that S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for. With nearly all options cut off the Captain will have to put faith in Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and new comer Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). Meanwhile the mysterious mercenary, the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), looms large as perhaps the Captain’s hardest foe yet; but, there’s always hope, even in America’s darkest hour. Time to save the day, or is it already too late?captainAA tightly woven plot and twisting screenplay with many moving parts unfurls effortlessly as directors Anthony and Joe Russo slowly peel back the onion layers to what might otherwise be an overly complex storyline. Fortunately a pleasant balance of action and exposition keep the adventure moving forward. Acting all round feels on par, and plenty of Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce makes for an interesting juxtaposition to his usual all American persona. And, as art imitating life a non fist pumping USA pride shines through to stand for something positive in the face of mounting cold war threats. How aptly timed? Worthy of your time, and yeah, stay through all of the credits….ALL OF THEM! Captain America: The Winter Soldier is rated PG-13.
